Six Rivers National Forest sells 1.18 mmbf Hardin Timber Sale to Humboldt Redwood Company

Six Rivers National Forest has sold the Hardin Timber Sale, the first sale from the Gordon Hill Vegetation and Fuelbreak Management Project Final Environmental Assessment. The sale, with an estimated volume of 1.18 million board feet, was sold to Humboldt Redwood Company, out of Scotia and Ukiah, California.

The Gordon Hill Vegetation and Fuelbreak Management Project is designed to provide defensible space around the communities of Big Flat and Gasquet, as recommended by their Community Wildland Protection Plan, as well as to promote watershed restoration.
The Hardin Timber Sale is the first timber sale to be offered on the Gasquet Ranger District since 2009. The timber sale is the first project from the environmental assessment, which was completed in 2015.

Brian West, log resources manager at Humboldt Redwood Company, said, “We hope this is just the beginning of a great relationship with the Six Rivers National Forest. We look forward to being a partner with the national forest in restoring our forests and our communities.”
