The paper mill Stora Enso Kvarnsveden is now focusing on a complete renovation of vibration monitoring systems related to paper machine PM10’s tender side in the drying section, where the transducers, connectors, cables and measurement units will be replaced because the system has reached the end of its service life.
An older online system from SPM will be replaced with the multifunctional online system Intellinova. A total of 77 transducer positions with vibration and shock pulse transducers will now to be replaced with new accelerometers.
The monitoring system will utilize the patented High Definition technology HD ENV which provides extremely long forewarning times for deteriorating mechanical condition.
Ulf Isaksson, Predictive Maintenance Supervisor, and Peter Forsström, Predictive Maintentance Inspector, justifies the investment: "Since we now run the Intellinova online system at PM10 soft calender, which is working well, we decided to develop the system further. One of the strengths of the system is that we are able to see bearing damage/locking collar looseness very early with the measuring technique HD ENV, which in turn means that we can prepare our maintenance operations well in advance and perform them during planned conditions, i.e. planned stops.”
Stora Enso Kvarnsveden is one of Sweden’s largest paper mills. The mill produces improved newsprint and magazine paper on three paper machines. The production capacity is approximately 750,000 tons per year.
