SunPine to invest SEK 250 million ($30 million) in new plant

SunPine is investing SEK 250 million ($30 million) in a new production plant. The owners of SunPine have decided to invest in a completely new facility adjacent to the company’s existing plant at Haraholmen in Piteå. Capacity will be increased by 50%, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

“We have decided to invest SEK 250 million ($30 million) to increase our tall diesel fuel capacity by 50%, potentially creating up to 20 new jobs right away and significantly more resulting from all the services we will need to procure. Our environmental permit application will be submitted in the spring, after which the procurement of equipment and services will begin. Our ambition is to commence production at the new plant in 2020,” says Magnus Edin, SunPine CEO.

The main aim is to increase tall diesel production capacity, which as Sweden’s only diesel fuel carrying the Nordic Eco-label – is supplied to consumers via Preem.

SunPine is a world leader in the production of second-generation renewable fuels. The raw material is a by-product from pulp and paper manufacturing.
