Sweden: Stock volumes of roundwood and wood chips decreased by 5%

Feb 18, 2016. /Lesprom Network/. Sweden's total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to amount 8.4 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark) as at 31 December 2015. This is a decline by 5% compared with the same time frame as last year, Swedish Forest Agency said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs is estimated to amount 3 million m³. Compared with same time frame as last year this is a decrease by 11%. The stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs declined in all wood balance regions.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 4.6 million m³ as at 31 December 2015 which is a fall by 2% compared to the same time frame of the year before.

As per assortment pulpwood stocks was: 3 million m³ of mixed coniferous, 0.7 million m³ of spruce and 0.9 million m³ of broadleaved. Pulpwood of spruce increased by 30%.

The stock volumes of wood chips is estimated to amount 0.8 million m³. This is a decline by 18% compared to 31 December 2014.
