Thimm Group plans to invest over Euro 70 million in 2016

Thimm Group is planning investments of over Euro 70 million for the current year. Most of this amount will be used for the construction of the new Holledau corrugated cardboard plant in Bavaria, Germany, as the company says in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Mathias Schliep, CEO Thimm Group, said: “In this modern and considerably bigger plant we are combining customer proximity, flexibility and Industry 4.0. It will be the first factory in the corrugated cardboard industry which will be prepared for the introduction of autonomous production processes.”

The objective of this investment is to fully develop the Bavarian corrugated cardboard packaging market and to exploit the location to focus on production for Southern Germany and its adjacent export markets.

As regards the group's European corrugated cardboard plants which have been successively modernised and expanded over the last few years, for the current year the company management is expecting significant volume increases due to expanded order packages. The same applies to the multi-material combination and special packaging segments. With the completion of the locations in Germersheim/
Germany and Puebla/ Mexico, production capacity in this area will almost double.

Thimm Group is one of the leading system suppliers of transport and sales packaging made from corrugated cardboard, high-quality sales displays, packaging systems with multiple materials and packaging-related services in the German and European market.
