David P. Tenny named CEO of newly formed National Alliance of Forest Owners

May 02, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. A nationwide group of private forestland owners announced the formation of the National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO) and the appointment of David P. Tenny as its president and CEO. Tenny will assume the leadership of NAFO later this month, and the group plans an announcement reception in Washington, D.C. in June. NAFO’s 14 member companies represent over 28 million acres of U.S. forestland. Matt Donegan, chairman of NAFO’s board of directors and chairman of Forest Capital Partners in Portland, Ore., said, “We are very pleased to have someone of Dave Tenny’s caliber join NAFO as its founding CEO. NAFO will immediately play an important role in the development of public policy on national issues that impact forestland owners.” Mr. Tenny commented on the value of a unified voice from forestland owners. “Forest ownership has undergone a great deal of change over the past several years, and private forest owners are seeking strong national advocacy on a variety of important issues,” said Tenny. “This is a dynamic and exciting time for private forest owners, and NAFO’s members are committed to providing the leadership necessary to benefit America’s forests now and in the future.” Tenny joins NAFO from the American Forest & Paper Association, where he was vice president of forestry and wood products. Prior to that, Tenny served as deputy undersecretary for natural resources at the United States Department of Agriculture and on staff of the Committee on Agriculture in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served as counsel and policy advisor on natural resources and related issues. The National Alliance of Forest Owners (NAFO) is a growing national alliance of U.S. private forest owners, managers and organizations dedicated to protecting and enhancing the economic and environmental values of privately owned forests through targeted policy advocacy at the national level.
