Komatsu Forest launches new forwarder

Apr 04, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Komatsu Forest is launching a completely new forwarder, the Komatsu 835, which is nimble and kind to the environment while being productive and reliable. The Komatsu 835 is productive with high torque and great traction in relation to its total weight. Combined with a powerful engine, high load capacity, and the crane's slewing torque and reach, the Komatsu 835 can handle any thinning assignment effectively, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The new Komatsu 835 is a truly green forwarder with low emissions and low forest impact, sparing standing trees and the forest floor when thinning. The low weight, compact size, and high ground clearance are important factors that minimize tree and ground damage. Another factor that makes the Komatsu 835 nimble and kind to the environment is the new weight-optimized frame system, which offers especially good obstacle clearance, while wide rear tracks ensure low ground pressure.

The Komatsu 835 is also a class forerunner when it comes to engine technology. The new 4-cylinder engine's fuel injection and emission control technology make it the first forwarder in its class to fulfill the requirements of EU Stage IV and EPA Tier 4 Final. This ensures world-leading emission reductions while retaining high power output and good fuel economy.

The spacious cab of the Komatsu 835 provides the operator with a high-performance work environment. Both upward and downward visibility are good, much due to the short nose. The Comfort Ride cab suspension option, which effectively reduces knocks and jolts, ensures productive cab comfort that's easy on the operator even after many hours at the controls.

The Komatsu 835 has a new powerful crane with a long reach and especially high slewing torque, enhancing performance in steep terrain.

The Komatsu 835 has a 12-ton (11-tonne) load capacity and the bunk offers great flexibility. One example is the FlexGate, which moves up and down if the crane strikes it. FlexGate is a patented solution that is appreciated by operators. Aside from greater protection, FlexGate also provides better visibility. The bunk, optimized for thinning, can also be fitted with the FlexBunk option, which provides hydraulic height-adjustable supports.

The Komatsu 835 is a well-equipped forwarder as standard, with a large number of optional extras to choose from. The ProTec crane tip solution and FlexGate are examples of standard equipment. Other available options include a bogie lift, a front blade, hood protection, a tilt column for the crane, and the MaxiFleet fleet management system.
