Schumacher Packaging's FY 2016 turnover increased by 6% to Euro 527 million

The Schumacher Packaging Group recorded an annual turnover of more than Euro 500 million for the first time in 2016. Schumacher Packaging's turnover in 2016 was Euro 527 million - a 6% increase compared with the previous year, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Björn Schumacher, Managing Director of the Schumacher Packaging Group, said that the success of the newly opened factory in Greven at Münster/Osnabrück Airport was one of the factors for the rise in turnover: "Our corrugated board plant in Greven started production in 2014. We were already operating there at full capacity in three shifts in the second half of 2016, one year earlier than originally planned."

Consequently, the capacity at the Greven plant is now being almost doubled with an investment sum of Euro 30 million.

"We want to complete this expansion in the 3Q 2017," said Björn Schumacher. The Greven plant will ultimately enable the packaging specialist to satisfy demand from customers in northwest Germany and the Benelux region. Continuing high growth in the e-commerce industry has also provided a further boost to demand for the packaging products from Schumacher Packaging.

"This year, we will reach an new evolution stage in the area of digital printing," explained Björn Schumacher. "We have intensified our activities once again in this direction and will very soon have three highly modern digital printing machines with even more extensive capabilities. Digital printing will enable us to open up entirely new opportunities not least for e-commerce providers to individualise their packaging."

The Schumacher Packaging Group is one of the largest family-run manufacturers of packaging solutions made of corrugated and solid board.
