Southern pine lumber exports increased by 11% in April

Jun 30, 2015. /Lesprom Network/. Export volumes of Southern Pine lumber remained healthy in April. SP exports to be just over 49 million board feet (MMbf) during April 2015. This volume represents a jump of 11% above the same month last year, contributing to a year-to-date increase of 5% when compared with the first four months of 2014, as the Southern Forest Products Association says in the press release received by Lesprom Network. 

Offshore shipments during April roughly break down as follows: 27.2 MMbf dressed, 10.6 MMbf rough, and 11.4 MMbf treated lumber.

As in March, softwood lumber imports to the U.S. during April were just over a billion board feet, up four percent from the volume imported during April of 2014. Year-to-date softwood imports are up 11% when compared with last year.
