Paper manufacturer Ballarpur Industries Ltd posted on Tuesday, October 18 a 32% rise in net profit after tax at INR 582.6 million ($12.8 million) for the quarter ended September 30, as compared to INR 442.0 million ($9.7 million) for the corresponding quarter last year. Total income (net of excise) increased 21% to INR 5.3 billion ($116.8 million) for the first quarter in 2006-2007 from INR 4.4 billion ($96.9 million) during the July-September period in 2005-2006, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
