Nov 11, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. China's Ministry of Commerce has protested against proposed tariffs by the U.S. on imported bedroom furniture, pleading for a fair hearing by the U.S. panel considering antidumping sanctions, reported DJ Newswires. The U.S. government Tuesday reduced proposed dumping tariffs on imported bedroom furniture from China for some companies, yet still urged some sanctions to be applied. With the exception of one company - Markor International Furniture - Chinese producers are selling their furniture below cost at margins ranging from 2.22% to 198%, the U.S. Commerce Department said in its final decision. For the major Chinese producers, the proposed tariffs for offsetting those margins were lower than the Commerce Department had estimated in a preliminary finding in June. But China's Commerce Ministry still urged the U.S. International Trade Commission against accepting the findings, and in a statement posted on its Web site Thursday argued that sanctions were unhelpful in resolving the trade dispute.
