Finnish Sunila Oy to curtail pulp production

Jan 13, 2009. /Lesprom.com/. The Finnish pulp producer Sunila Oy has decided on further production curtailments and starts statutory negotiations concerning all employees at the company's sole mill in Kotka, Lesprom Network informed according to the Papernet. Sunila has carried out production curtailments during the last two years, first because of lack of wood and then because of weakening demand for pulp. Now, the poor market conditions due to the global fianance crisis has made further production curtailments necessary. The company starts statutory negotiations concerning all employees, around 260 persons. It is not yet decided how long the temporary lay-offs will be. Sunila Oy is jointly owned by Myllykoski and Stora Enso and has a pulp capacity of 370 thousand tons per year.
