In qualifying for the Standards Program, Forest Energy Corporation joins existing program members New England Wood Pellet, Curran Renewable Energy, American Wood Fibers, Lignetics Inc. and Marth Peshtigo Pellet Co. With the addition of Forest Energy Corporation, nearly half of the pellets manufactured for residential heat consumption within the United States are produced under this program.
Rob Davis, owner of FEC stated, “Although we have always had an extensive in-house testing program to provide our customers consistent quality product, now it is overseen by an independent third party, providing everyone that extra level of confidence in the products from Forest Energy.”
To meet the criteria of the PFI Standards Program, participants work monthly with an independent accredited auditing agency and testing laboratory. Random monthly audits are performed at production facilities to ensure qualified companies are following a quality assurance and control program. Pellets are tested according to the program specifications, also on a monthly or more frequent basis. By taking these steps, participants ensure that their pellet quality meets the standards and remains consistent.
The Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) is a North American trade association based in Arlington, Virginia, that represents a range of contributors to the pellet industry, including companies that manufacture wood pellets and pellet manufacturing equipment, or provide other products and services to the densified biomass industry at large.
Forest Energy Corporation, located in Show Low, AZ, manufactures wood pellets, densified wood logs, horse and small animal bedding, among other products.
