Jul 29, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. The press length of the Küsters MDF line in Gebze has been extended to 37 metres, providing an additional annual capacity of 45,000 cubic m and increasing the total MDF capacity of Kastamonu to 700,000 cubic m/year, Wood Panels Online reported. Furthermore, the particleboard works in Terme - Samsun (Black Sea Region of Turkey) has been taken over from Yontas, giving Kastamonu an additional particleboard capacity of 150,000 cubic m/year. Taking into account these changes in capacity, the total wood-based panel production (i.e. MDF, Particleboard, OSB, Doorskin) of Kastamonu is now 2,195,000 cubic m/year. Established in 1969 in Northwestern province Kastamonu, its namesake, the company, originally thought of as supplier to local furniture industry, has turned out to be a major global player. With a consolidated turnover of $725 million realised in year 2008, the company is reportedly the number one exporter in the Turkish industrial forest products sector and is ranking number 7, among the top 10 wood-based panel producers in Europe.
