Apr 05, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. Kotkamills Oy celebrated the start-up of its recycled fibre processing plant in Kotka. The project was completed according to schedule and the new pulping line, which mainly uses recycled fibre-based consumer packages as the raw material, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. Recycled pulp from the new line is used for the production of Absorbex® Eco, an ecological paper for laminates, and will replace 20% of the chemical pulp in the paper production. Tuija Suur-Hamari, President of Kotkamills, says that demand for environmentally sound products is increasing, especially in Central Europe, a key market area for laminating papers. “Our major customers place emphasis on ecological aspects, which is why we too strive to take sustainability into consideration in the development work of our special papers,” Suur-Hamari states. Kotkamills is a forest products company based in Finland. The company specialises in laminating paper, matt coated bulky paper and sawn products.
