‘Last year's results are positive and satisfying. However the situation is not homogeneous - some enterprises deal better, some stay behind, Andris Plezers said.
‘The enterprises increased net-turnover mainly due to more profound timber-procession’, Andris Plezers said, stressing that the raw timber volume purchased in 2003 declined. However due to the production of goods with high added value, the turnover increased.
The enterprises also benefited from EUR exchange rate increase - more than 80% of exports are Europe-bound, Andris Plezers said. Meanwhile the enterprises exporting goods to USD zone, e.g. matches producers, reported losses while production did not decline.
The best results were reported by veneer and glued furniture parts, Andris Plezers said.
