Minerals Technologies signs agreement for Fulfill® high-filler technology with South American papermaker

Minerals Technologies Inc. has entered into a commercial agreement with a leading South American paper company to provide Fulfill® E-325 higher filler technology. The papermaker wishes to remain unnamed for competitive reasons, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

"We are extremely pleased that this prominent South American papermaker is adopting our cost-saving technology," said Joseph C. Muscari, chairman and CEO. "The continued acceptance of our FulFill® product portfolio by paper companies worldwide further validates the value-added technology developed by MTI."

The Fulfill® E-325 series allows papermakers to replace higher-cost pulp by increasing PCC loading levels three to five percentage points, from a typical level of approximately 20% up to 25%.

PCC is a specialty pigment for filling and coating high-quality paper. By substituting PCC for more expensive wood fiber, papermakers are able to produce brighter, higher quality paper at lower cost.
