Oregon Department of Forestry to hold public workshop on draft Forests Management Plan

Public workshop will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25 in Salem to learn, ask questions, and provide input on proposed measurable outcomes as part of a revised Western Oregon State Forests Management Plan (FMP), announced Oregon Department of Forestry.

The Board of Forestry has directed the Oregon Department of Forestry to revise its plan for managing state forests west of the Cascades to increase financial and conservation outcomes. Measurable outcomes represent the quantifiable results of strategies used to assess progress towards achieving goals as well as evaluating alternatives and tradeoffs. They can be used to monitor resource strategies and trends that are responsive to strategies and management standards.

At the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn about how ODF intends to measure progress towards forest management goals and strategies, ask questions and provide input for the agency to take into account when preparing the draft Forest Management Plan. The full draft FMP will be the topic of another public workshop later in 2019.
