Plywood imports to US from China fall 56.7% in second quarter 2019

In second quarter of 2019, plywood imports to U.S. from China fell 56.7% y-o-y to 127.1 thousand m3 with import value declined 51.9% to $113.6 million, according to USDA data. Share of China in U.S. plywood imports dropped 9.61 pp to 11.0%.

Plywood exports from Brazil to U.S. expanded 12.3% to 283.3 thousand m3, export value jumped 14.1% to $79.2 million. Share of Brazil in U.S. plywood imports surged 6.83 pp to 24.6%. 

Plywood exports from Vietnam soared 63.8% to  114.0 thousand m3 with export value rocketed 48.2% to $64.6 million.

Total plywood imports to U.S. contracted 18.9% to 1.2 million m3 with import value declined 28.9% to $603.9 million.
