“The arrival of the first machinery shipment is an important milestone in the development of the Project”, commented Omar Nacif, Proteak’s Managing Director in charge of Boards. “This fact confirms that the construction of the plant is progressing as planned and, within a year, we will already be producing top-quality wood boards”, he added.
This plant is the most important industrial forestry project in Mexico and will bring much-needed development to the country’s Southeast region. Proteak has secured 100% of sustainable wood supply for the plant from its own certified Eucalyptus plantations.
The plant, which will start operating in July 2015, will also include the efficient cogeneration of energy using natural gas and biomass, thereby achieving the most efficient production costs in the industry.
Proteak is the largest forestry company in Mexico and Central America. With 18,000 hectares of plantations in Mexico, Costa Rica and Colombia, it exports products to over 15 destinations in America, Europe and Asia.
