Segezha Group will build a new plywood processing shop and upgrade the existing production lines at its Vyatsky Plywood Mill in Kirov, Russia.
The company plans to invest about RUB 5 billion ($69 million) in the project. As a result, the veneer and plywood processing capacity of the mill will increase by 63,500 m3 per year (from 192,000 to 255,000 m3). The share of high margin products in total output will go up from 22% to 47%.
After the design for the new shop was developed and the main production equipment was supplied to the construction site, piles were driven into the ground on a trial basis, and it was confirmed that the ground at the construction site meets the requirements for the planned shop.
The next stage of preparations involved the removal from the construction site of the Nestro filtering unit, which removes grinding dust and sawdust from the existing production facilities, along with the building of the briquette shop.
The structures and equipment were moved to the new site from 10 to 20 September during the annual overhaul of the production shops at the Vyatsky Plywood Mill. The main construction work of the new 10,000 m2 plywood processing shop started on schedule in September.
