Segezha Group (part of Sistema JSFC) started construction of a workshop equipped with a drying plant for dry lignosulfonate at its Sokolsky mill in the Vologda region, Russia.

Along with the purchase of a drying plant, provisions are made for modernization of the quality control system of the existing paper-making machine. Construction of yet another, new paper-making machine and modern local waste treatment plant is also envisaged.

Simultaneously with general construction works, the facility is being prepared to installation of the equipment which has already been delivered to the site. The workshop will be commissioned this autumn. Its capacity will amount to 2000 tons of dry lignosulphonate per month. About 20 new workplaces will be created at the mill.

Lignosulfonates are a by-product of the pulp manufacturing process. Their main area of application is construction. Plasticizers on their basis improve properties of concrete, increasing its strength by one fourth and its freezing resistance by 3-4 times. As a powder, they are also in demand in the mining industry, metallurgy and agriculture.
