Nov 10, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Sonoco announced that Gloria M. Bell has been named staff vice president, internal audit, according to Charles J. Hupfer, senior vice president and CFO. Bell is responsible for the day-to-day functions of the company’s internal audit department including assessing compliance of internal controls under Sarbane-Oxley Section 404, testing of all information technology systems and working with the company’s independent auditors. She reports directly to the Audit Committee of the company’s Board of Directors and Hupfer. Bell joined Sonoco in 1978 and held management positions in company’s general accounting and public reporting function and as director of finance and administration for the company’s Protective Packaging division. Prior to this new assignment, she was director of internal audit. She is a Certified Public Accountant. “Gloria is a respected accounting professional who has effectively managed the company’s internal audit function while working directly with our Board’s Audit Committee in assuring compliance of internal controls and reporting,” said Hupfer.
