Sweden’s total stocks of coniferous sawlogs, pulpwood and wood chips is estimated to amount 7 million m³ (cubic metres solid volume excluding bark) as at 31 December 2013. The total stocks was 6% higher than the 3Q 2013. Compared with 31 December 2012 the total stocks declined by 6%, as the Swedish Forest Agency said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs increased by 9% to 2.3 million m³ in the last quarter of 2013 compared to 3Q. The increase of stock volumes of coniferous sawlogs has been in wood balance regions 1, 3 and 4, while stocks have fallen in wood balance region 2.

The total stocks of pulpwood amounted to 3.7 million m³ (cubic meters excluding bark) as at 31 December 2013. Stocks of pulpwood were 3% lower compared with the 3Q 2013. Stocks of mixed softwood and hardwood decreased by 1% respective 17% while stocks of spruce pulpwood increased by 26%. The total stocks of pulpwood consisted of 2.2 million m³ of mixed softwood while stocks of spruce pulpwood and hardwood pulpwood accounted for 0.6 million m³ respective 0.9 million m³.

The stock volumes of wood chips were 1 million m³ at the year end of 2013.
