Sep 01, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Limited placed another order with Voith Paper for a production line for high-quality writing, printing and copy papers. This paper machine will be delivered to Kagithapuram Karur District in the state of Tamil Nadu, approximately 350 km south-east of Chennai, India. The raw material used will be predominantly eco-friendly bagasse pulp, which is produced in their own factory. The new PM 3 paper machine is based on the proven One Platform Concept. The PM 3 will produce papers with a basis-weight range between 50 and 120 g/m2 with an annual production capacity of approximately 155,000 tons. Together with the machines PM 1 and PM 2, which are located at the same mill, Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd. will produce approximately 400,000 tons of paper per year in the future. The PM 2 is also a Voith Paper machine, the PM 1 is a Beloit machine which had already been converted by Voith in 2002 and will be rebuilt again by Voith in 2009. Voith is going to supply an integrated automation system for the paper machine, the multi-drive system with Voith Drive and Voith Drive Command, the process and the paper quality. The scope of delivery also includes a monitoring system, the power section for the multi-motor drive and the field instruments. Start-up of the paper machine is scheduled for May 2010. With this machine Voith will reinforce the global leadership position in bagasse based paper machine installations.
