Jan 21, 2009. /Lesprom.com/. TimberWest Forest Corp. announced the appointment of The Honourable David Emerson to its Board of Directors. Mr. Emerson is one of British Columbia's business leaders, with extensive senior experience in the public and private sector, the company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. He was also an elected Member of Parliament and served in the Canadian Federal Cabinet. Mr. Emerson's appointment is on behalf of the BC Investment Management Corporation and is consistent with the terms of the investment agreement entered into with TimberWest in December 2008. "We are honoured to have Mr. Emerson join our Board," said Ed Daughney, Chairman of the Board of TimberWest. "His significant leadership experience, business background - including in the B.C. forest industry - and public policy involvement will serve us well as we continue to move our company forward." Since leaving the federal government in 2008, Mr. Emerson has taken on senior roles in some of B.C.'s leading companies and organizations. They include Executive Chair (as well as CEO) of the B.C. Transmission Corporation, Senior Advisor for the law firm of Farris, Vaughn, Wills and Murphy LLP, Chair of the Premier's Economic Advisory Council and membership on the board of Finning International. These recent appointments build on Mr. Emerson's previous executive leadership and business roles. They include the positions of President and CEO of Canfor Corporation; Chairman and CEO of Canadian Western Bank and President and CEO of the Vancouver International Airport Authority.
