Total kraft paper shipments decreased by 2.7% in December 2008 compared to November 2008 and 25.1% compared to December 2007, informed Lesprom Network according to the American Forest & Paper Association’s December 2008 Kraft Paper Sector Report. The total year-end shipments increased by 2.2%. Total kraft paper inventory increased by 1.0% in December 2008 compared to November 2008. Total unbleached kraft shipments decreased by 2.7% from last month. The shipments also decreased by 23.8% compared to December 2007. However, 2008 year-end total unbleached kraft shipments increased 2.4% compared to 2007. The total unbleached kraft inventory increased 1.1% compared last month. The total shipments of unbleached kraft bag & sack had a decrease of 16.3% in December compared to November 2008. The total year-end 2008 shipments fell 7.6% compared to year-end 2007. The total shipments of unbleached kraft multiwall dropped 5.5% in December 2008 compared to previous month. The total year-end shipments also decreased by 15.8% compared to year-end 2007. Unbleached kraft converting shipments were 14.6% higher than November 2008, and an increase of 15.7% compared to November 2007. The total year-end of 2008 shipments had an increase of 44.5% compared to 2007. Total bleached kraft shipments decreased by 1.6% in December 2008 compared to last month, however a large drop of 33.7% compared to December 2007. The total year-end shipments increased 0.7% in 2008 compared to 2007. The total bleached kraft inventory increased 0.6% in December 2008 compared to November 2008.
