U.S. packaging papers & specialty packaging shipments in May 2022 increased 1% compared to May 2021. They were up 1% when compared to the same 5 months of 2021, as the American Forest & Paper Association reported.

The operating rate was 88%, essentially flat (+0.2 pts.) from May 2021 and up 1.1 points year-to-date.

Mill inventories at the end of April decreased 6,000 short tons from the previous month, and were down 8,000 short tons compared to April 2021.
