Sep 13, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. Revenues from sales achieved by Barlinek Group during the first 6 months of 2012 amounted to PLN 331 million ($104 million), up by 7% in relation to the first 6 months of 2011. Revenues during 2Q 2012 were 6% higher than during 1Q 2012 and 10% higher than during 2Q 2011, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
Net loss amounted to PLN 16.3 million ($5 million) in 1H 2012.
The increased revenue from floorboards was significantly influenced by the introduction of new products (triple-layered floorboard with 5GS joint and double-layered floorboard). The increase in sale prices and the change in sales structure (towards more expensive products) did also contribute to this higher revenue.
The increase in the costs of sales during 2012 was caused mainly by the increase in prices of wood raw materials and by UAH/PLN exchange rate. Costs of sales increased year on year by 4%, yet their share in the revenues decreased by 0.6%.
These expenses during 2Q 2012 were 2% lower than during 1Q 2012 and the total value of general administrative expenses during the first 6 months of 2012 was 9% lower than during the first 6 months of 2011.
Barlinek's main product is the floor board Barlinek, a three-layered flooring made of high-quality local wood species. The company also manufactures veneers, classic parquets and mosaic parquets.
