Jan 12, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Paperboard sales in Brazil totalled 2.2 million tonnes in 2005, up 2.4% year-on-year, data by Brazilian Corrugated Paper Association (ABPO) showed on January 11, 2006. However, the increase stood below the sector specialists' expectations. According to ABPO's president Paulo Sergio Peres, the sector sales were expected to grow by between 3.0% and 5.0% year-on-year in 2005. According to the ABPO, the paperboard industry's growth is traditionally similar to the expansion of the country's GDP. In December 2005 alone, the paperboard sales in Brazil totalled 177 500 tonnes, which was a 5.3% year-on-year rise. When compared to November 2005, it was a 5.5% decrease.
