In the SC-magazine paper sector, total European shipments rose 7.3% (29,000 tonnes) year-on-year. Looking at the domestic situation, deliveries of SC-magazine to Poland, Italy and Germany was notably up on previous. Coated mechanical reels posted a 20.6% hike in total European shipments last month. An upswing in shipments to Europe in December saw the domestic level up 22.1% (117,000 tonnes) compared to December 2009 with France, Germany and Italy contributing to the rise. On the exports side, an increase in shipments to Latin America and the Far East helped to boost overseas shipments of CMR, despite a drop in tonnage to Near East countries. Turning to uncoated mechanical, total European shipments were up 7.9% (16,000 tonnes). The rise was driven by a 10.7% (18,000 tonnes) increase in domestic deliveries to countries including Germany and the UK. Exports of uncoated mechanical were down 5.3% (2,000 tonnes).
