Feb 12, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. The Finnish paper industry’s situation continued to be challenging in 2013 due to the weak economic situation in Europe and declining demand for graphic papers. In 2013, a total of 10.6 million tonnes of paper and paperboard were produced in Finland. This is 1% less than in 2012, as the Finnish Forest Industries Federation said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

In 2013, production of graphic paper, printing and writing paper as well as newsprint, totalled 6.3 million tonnes, which is a reduction of almost 5% from 2012 levels. Production of paperboard grades designed for packaging purposes amounted to 2.9 million tonnes, which is almost 7% more than in 2012. Pulp production in Finland totalled 7.1 million tonnes, which is almost 4% more than in the previous year. Pulp export deliveries were about 8% higher than in 2012.
