Feb 09, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Volume of raw wood exported from Russia in 2009 decreased by 41.0% compared to the previous year, of pulp – by 17.8%, according to the data of the Federal Customs Service of Russia. The country's forest and pulp & paper products export share almost did not change in 2009 and amounted to 2.6% (2.3% in 2008). Physical volume of sawn timber deliveries to non-CIS countries increased by 4.7%, of newsprint deliveries – by 12.6%.

 

Share of forest and pulp & paper products in the CIS exports in 2009 amounted to 5.1% (4.3% in 2008), while export cost decreased by 23.9% compared to 2008.

 

In 2009, share of imported equipment from non-CIS countries fell down to 46.0% (55.9% in 2008). Cost of machinery and equipment decreased by 48.0% due to decrease in procurement of mechanical equipment by 40.6%, of transport vehicles (except railroad) by 70.5%, of electric equipment by 34.0%, and of optical equipment by 39.3%.

 

Share of wood-based products import in 2009 amounted to 3.0% (2.4% in 2008). Volume of forest and pulp & paper products import decreased by 33.8%, while total import value fell 21.8%. Export value of wood-based products in 2009 made up around $8.17 billion, including $6.65 billion to non-CIS countries.
