Andris Teikmanis, the secretary of state for Latvia's foreign ministry, has met with Shin Kak-soo, South Korea's vice minister of foreign affairs and commerce, to discuss bilateral relations between the nations including cooperation in the timber and forestry industries, as KMS Baltics reported. During the meeting in Seoul, a memorandum of understanding was signed to improve links between the foreign ministries of both countries. Latvia's foreign ministry claim the agreement will form a "solid basis for an enhanced political dialogue in future". Both delegations agreed there is a vast potential for existing Latvian-Korean relations to be expanded into new fields. The focus for this cooperation was on transport, logistics, the timber industry, IT and tourism, Latvia's foreign ministry said.
