Apr 25, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. The Plum Creek Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to The Healing Center to strengthen the Center’s long-term family grief support services. The Healing Center’s multi-faceted programs have directly served more than 500 adults and 100 children in King and Snohomish counties who have lost a spouse or parent by providing support groups, home visits, individual counseling, retreats and workshops, and a peer support network. “Our board and staff are thrilled that Plum Creek has awarded us this grant to help fund our programs for grieving children and adults,” said Kath McCormack, executive director. “These funds will allow us to continue to serve vulnerable, bereaved families by giving them the opportunity to be a part of a ‘healing community’ where they can receive support as they mourn the death of their loved one and ultimately rebuild their lives.” The mission of the Plum Creek Foundation is to provide philanthropic contributions to support and improve the general welfare of life in the communities that Plum Creek serves. The Foundation board meets quarterly to review applications submitted from organizations in the company’s operating communities.
