May 23, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. Recent events in Tallinn haven’t considerably affected volume of timber export to Estonia from Russia, the survey of Russian wood exporters conducted by Lesprom.ru showed. However, the majority of respondents declined to introduce themselves. Yarmarka company (St Petersburg) is exporting wood to Estonia and will continue the export if Estonian part pays off its debts. The recent events haven’t influenced company’s business and the leadership of Yarmarka doesn’t think about it. CEO of Charter (Pskov) Andrey Vinogradov told Lesprom.ru that earlier the company had exported wood to Estonia but now it doesn’t due to economical reasons, which he declined to mention. Recommencement of the export will depend on economical factors, not on political ones: business is business. Holding company Vologodskiye promyshlenniki (Vologda) sells roundwood to Estonia and will continue the deliveries because concluded contracts are valid till July. If after this term the wood from Russia will be still in demand which is not sure because of tariffs hike, the export deliveries will be continued. Fedko-Forest (Nakhodka, Primorsky kraj) hasn’t exported timber to Estonia and won’t all the more after recent events. The representative of the company told Lesprom.ru that the Estonians should be punished. He said he is ready to amerce them himself by concluding a contract with Estonian part, taking prepayment and not supplying wood until the monument is returned to its place. ELPIT-les (Vologda) has never exported wood to Estonia and isn’t considering such possibility. Rustekhnoles (Moscow) has ceased export of wood to Estonia but following some economical reasons and not political ones.
