Sweden reduced imports from Russia in 1Q by 0.8% to $544.3 million compared to $544.3 million during the same period in 2004, the Russian commerce office in Sweden reported. Russian participation in the Swedish imports reduced 2% in 1Q 2005 compared to 2.17% in 2004. The Swedish imports consist of fuel, oil and oil products – 56.5% (down 24.2%), metals and metal products – 17.7% (up 178.3%), chemical products – 12.3% (up 411.3%), timber and pulp and paper goods – 5.5% (down 31%). These 4 main groups compose 92.1% of the Swedish imports from Russia. The Swedish exports to Russia in 1Q 2005 increased 23.4% to $497.1 million compared to $402.7 million in 2004. Exports to Russia compose 1.5% of the total exports (compared to 1.2% in 2004) The main types of Swedish exports are: machinery, equipment and transport – 66.2% (up 26%), metals and metal goods – 7.2% (up 11.4%), chemical industry products – 6% (up 9.2%), timber and pulp and paper goods – 6.5% (up 19.5%), food and agricultural raw materials – 5% (53.5%). Overall commodity turnover reached $1041.4 million, negative balance - $47.2 million.
