Feb 18, 2013. /Lesprom Network/. The Board of Directors of Vapo Timber Oy has appointed Juhani Ylä-Sahra as the new CEO of Vapo Timber Oy. Ylä-Sahra also continues as the Director of the Vapo Oy Wood Fuels business area, i.e. Vapo’s energy wood and pellet businesses and a member of the Management Team of Vapo Oy, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vapo Timber Oy, Tomi Yli-Kyyny, Vapo Timber’s operating result has been clearly loss-making in a difficult market situation and the Board of Directors has launched a programme to turn the earnings trend round. In this situation a change of operational management is natural. According to Yli-Kyyny, Juhani Ylä-Sahra has solid experience of the various areas of the forest industry and also knows Vapo Timber’s operating environment very well, both the company and its customers. Prior to his present position as Director of the Wood Fuels business area, Ylä-Sahra has worked as CEO of Vapo’s Swedish subsidiary Neova AB and in several management positions at Vapo Oy and Vapo Timber Oy. The previous CEO of Vapo Timber Oy, Juha Hakala, is leaving his position in the Vapo Group. Vapo Timber is one of the biggest producers of sawn timber in Europe. The sawmills of Vapo Timber Oy are located in Hankasalmi, Lieksa and Nurmes. Vapo Timber offers a large selection of products ranging from basic sawn goods to customized product specifications and special products.
