Voith Paper to deliver newsprint machine in Switzerland

The new PM 7 will have a production capacity of 360 thousand metric tons per year of newsprint in a basis weight range of 40 - 55 g/m2. The machine has a wire width of 10,450 mm and designed for a maximum production speed of 2,000 m/min. PM 7 will produce high-quality standard and upgraded newsprint, Voith said.
Perlen Papier operates one mill in Perlen, in the Lucerne area of Switzerland, and currently produces about 130 thousand tpy of standard and improved newsprint on one machine, PM 5. Plans call for PM 7 to replace PM 5. The new machine is slated for start-up the fall of 2010.
Perlen Papier AG was founded in 1872 and is the only producer of magazine papers in Switzerland. After the start-up of PM 7, Perlen will be the largest producer of newsprint.
