Apr 02, 2007. /Lesprom Network/. West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. announced on March 31 that it has completed its acquisition of 13 sawmills located in the southern United States from International Paper Company. The business will be operated by a wholly-owned U.S. subsidiary of West Fraser.
Headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, West Fraser is an integrated forest products company that produces lumber, LVL, MDF, plywood, pulp, linerboard, kraft paper and newsprint. West Fraser has manufacturing operations in British Columbia, Alberta and the southern United States and, with the completion of the U.S. South acquisition, has approximately 9 100 employees. All of West Fraser's managed Canadian woodlands are certified to a third-party and independently-verified sustainable forest management standard, either the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) or Canada's national standard for sustainable forest management.
