Yuri Petrovich Trutnev’s biography Born March, 1956 in Polazna village in Dobryanski district of Perm region in a family of oil-industry workers. After graduating from school in 1973 Yuri Trutnev entered Permsky polytechnic institute and graduated in 1978 with a degree of a mining engineer. During his studies Yuri Trutnev worked in Polazaneftm Komineft as assistant driller and oil and gas extraction operator. In 1978 – engineer, associate scientific researcher in PermNIPIneft. 1981-1988 worked in Perm city and regional Young communist league committee, regional sport committee In 1988 founded and headed Contact physical culture and sanitation union. In 1990 EKS Limited (later transformed into EKS group) CEO. In 1994 elected MP to Perm region Legislative body form Leninsky constituency of Perm region. Works as head of legislative committee on economy and tax of Perm region Legislative body and MP of Perm city Duma. In 1996 president of EKS International, comprising EKS group enterprises. In December 1996 won the first tour of Perm mayor race casting 61,42% of votes. From December, 9 1996 Perm mayor (after seizing victory from his election rivals: mayor Vladimir Fil, deputy mayor Vladimir Khlebnikov and 4 other candidates). Vladimir Zotin quit the race in favor of Yuri Trutnev and was appointed deputy-mayor after Yuri Trutnev was elected mayor. Yuri Trutnev was considered Gennady Igumnov’s main rival on the Perm governor elections in December 2000, however he quit the elections, and Gennnady Igumnov promised to support him in the mayor elections. In October 2000 after Gennady Igumnov refused to run for the governor elections scheduled for December, 3 2000, Yuri Turtnev was nominated for election. Gennady Igumnov called on the voters to give their votes for Yuri Turtnev. On October, 12 2000 Gennady Igumnov entered the Perm governor race again. He was registered by Perm electoral commission on October, 17 2000. Gennady Igumnov was supported by Yabloko political party in the event of elections. On December, 3 2000 Yuri Trutnev won the first tour of Perm governor elections casting 51,48% of votes. Gennady Igumnov occupied the 2nd position. On February, 17 2003 Yuri Trutnev and Komi-Perm autonomous region governor Gennady Saveliev signed a treaty and a memorandum of unifying the two regions into a single federal division. From July 2003 – member of Presidential commission on administrative reform.
