Jul 26, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. Fibria closed the 2Q 2012 with an adjusted EBITDA (earnings before deducting interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) of R$ 550 million ($275 million), 46% higher than that of the previous quarter and 12% higher than in the 2Q 2011, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
This result is explained by higher pulp price and the appreciation of the dollar against the real. The company’s net revenues increased by 17%, totaling R$ 1.49 billion ($745 million) when compared to the 1Q 2012.
Pulp sales amounted to 1.27 million tons, with Europe the main destination. As an exporter, over 90% of Fibria’s debt is linked to the US dollar, and the currency appreciation during the period had a R$ 1.23 billion ($615 million) negative impact on the net financial result, contributing to the loss of R$ 524 million ($262 million) recorded in the quarter.
