Jun 25, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. The Schumacher Packaging Group has taken 100% ownership of the Dutch company Vinke Display BV in Breda, Packaging Europe reports.

Schumacher Packaging, one of the largest family-run manufacturers of packaging solutions made from corrugated and solid cardboard has achieved a continuous upwards sales curve over the past few years. The acquisition of this renowned display specialist in Breda follows the recent opening of Schumacher’s newly-constructed corrugated board plant in Greven, Westphalia, which was commissioned in May 2014. By acquiring Vinke – its first sales and logistics site in the Netherlands – Schumacher not only wants to expand its existing display business but also offer a better service to its customers in the local region and in Belgium.

Managing Director Björn Schumacher explains why they took this step: “Since we decided on the new Greven plant it has been our plan to create a sales and logistics presence in the Netherlands, as the Benelux region is one of the key target markets for the Greven plant. With its location in Breda, directly on the Belgian border, Vinke Display offers the perfect pre-conditions to strengthen our market presence in this region.”

Vinke Display BV already looks after the whole of the Netherlands as well as Belgium. Its customers include a large number of major brand-name manufacturers and its latest annual turnover figure stands at around Euro10 million. “Through this acquisition, we naturally wish to expand our existing display business and benefit from the synergies created”, Mr Schumacher continued, “but at the same time Breda as a location is relevant to us strategically. We already have a large number of major brand-name customers of our own in this region. Therefore, Breda will not only be a sales and logistics hub for us, we also want to give advice locally to our Dutch-speaking customers and carry out development work for them.”

Breda also provides an element of continuity: Luc Swaenen, formerly co-owner and managing director of Vinke Display BV, will stay on at this new Schumacher location as managing director.
