Apr 08, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Swedish Forest Agency conducts annual survey by questionnaire on the production of seedlings for use in Sweden. According to the latest survey some 407 million seedlings were delivered in 2013. There was an increase of 9% compared with the 2012, as the Swedish Forest Agency said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

The most common tree species are spruce, which represents 54% of production. Pine accounts for 34% of the production while other species production accounts of 12%.

Rooted planting material (82%) is the dominant method of production. Bare-rooted is 18% while the remaining production is virtually nonexistent. Most of the origin of seedlings comes from the Swedish plantations or Swedish stand, totally accounting for 83%.
