Feb 09, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Botnia has selected Rauma Mill in Finland as the safest Botnia unit in 2009 from among the four Finnish pulp mills and one sawmill in Russia, the company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network.
Factors affecting the selection include the injury rate in the unit, the severity of injuries as well as proactive safety efforts. The injury rate was in Rauma the lowest of all Botnia units and showed a further decrease over 2008. The amount of proactive safety efforts, i.e. safety observations, safety rounds and safety quarters increased essentially.
The recognition was now awarded for the fourth time. Rauma Mill received the award of the safest Botnia unit also in 2008. The first two years the samovar was won by the Svir Timber sawmill.
The objective defined by Botnia is zero injuries by 2012.
