Jul 29, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. The workers of Canfor's Clear Lake sawmill have voted in favour of approving a $2.6 million cost-reduction package, ForestTalk reported.
Canfor's spokesman Dave Lefebvre said the majority of the cost cutting will be coming from wages. Details were not made public, but the wage cuts are rumoured to be in the 14%-19% area with a work week bumped back up to 40 hours.
The Clear Lake sawmill is a non-unionized operation and operates on two shifts at its site just southwest of the Prince George.
