Nov 08, 2004. /Lesprom Network/. Carter Holt Harvey (CHH) welcomed the announcement of its ‘A+’ company rating in the RepuTex 2004 Social Responsibility Ratings. The 2004 ratings recognised Carter Holt Harvey as a leader in workplace practices and environmental training, while also highlighting the company’s exemplary Occupational Health & Safety systems. The result is the company’s third consecutive year of rating improvement and builds on stronger results in the Environmental Impact and Workplace Practices categories. The RepuTex ratings evaluate the corporate social responsibility of Australia’s Top 100 and New Zealand’s Top 20 organisations. In 2003 Carter Holt Harvey achieved an ‘A’ rating, climbing from 50th to 29th on the RepuTex rankings of Australia’s 100 largest organisations. CHH Chief Operating Officer Devon McLean said the company has a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility and the RepuTex rating provided a useful external benchmark to compliment the company’s own internal measures and monitoring systems. “Carter Holt Harvey is committed to continuous improvement across all areas of corporate social responsibility and we’re delighted to see our efforts reflected in this year’s RepuTex ratings,” he said. “We were particularly pleased to be recognised for our focus on Health & Safety. This is an important area for every employee and contractor, so the result is something for everyone to be proud of.” “We continue to learn from our involvement with RepuTex and this year reinforced that while we are making great progress, there are always areas for improvement.” “The A+ rating demonstrates our solid performance in all of the areas measured by RepuTex. For Carter Holt Harvey sound environmental practices and being a responsible member of the communities we operate in simply makes good business sense,” he said.
