Oct 26, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. Cheslatta Forest Products Ltd. in Burns Lake, British Columbia, Canada, has officially shut down, following extended downtime, as Random Lengths reported. The sawmill has been down since October 2008, although the planer has operated sporadically since then. The mill's closure was attributed to a lack of modern three-phase power, skyrocketing fuel costs, the impending expiration of the mill's non-renewable beehive burning permit, and diminishing recovery of lumber from beetle-killed logs.
