China to impose inspection on imported paper diaper fabrics

China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has decided that China will impose entry inspection and quarantine on paper diaper fabrics, face tissues, paper napkin and other disposable hygienic articles as of January 1, 2006. The administration said other commodities listed in the category for inspection and quarantine include toilet paper, paper handkerchief, paper feminine napkin, paper clothes, paper bed sheets, etc.
Starting from next year, the safety, hygiene, outward appearance and package of the above-said goods must conform to the hygiene standards set by the government.
Those that fail to meet the set standards are not allowed to be imported, sold or used. The customs offices will handle the import procedures in line with the clearance of entry goods issued by the institutions of entry-exit inspection and quarantine.
