China’s wooden flooring production up 18% in 2005

There were 3 000 wooden flooring enterprises in China in 2005 with one million employees in production, distribution and service activities, ITTO reported citing head of China National Forest Products Industry Association Zhang Senlin. The output value of China’s wooden flooring was about CNY 45 billion ($5.6 billion) or 292 million square meters in 2005, up 18% from 2004. Of this total, solid composite flooring accounted for 46 million square meters (up 40%), laminated flooring grew 190 million square meters (up 20%), bamboo flooring 6 million square meters (up 20%) and solid flooring 50 million square meters (down 30%).
Mr. Senlin expected China’s wooden flooring industry to develop rapidly in the next five years. The development goal of the industry is to achieve a production of 500 million square meters by 2010, 40% of which will be for the export market.
